Savitri Jindal, recognized as India’s wealthiest woman, has made a notable shift in her political affiliation, transitioning from the Congress to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Her decision, announced via social media late Wednesday, came after serving as a dedicated representative of Hisar for a decade and contributing selflessly to the welfare of Haryana as a minister. Joining her in this political move is her daughter, Seema Jindal, marking a significant transition within their family’s political dynamics.
The departure from the Congress doesn’t stand alone, as Savitri Jindal’s son, Naveen Jindal, also recently opted to leave the Congress and align with the BJP. Naveen Jindal, a former Member of Parliament, expressed gratitude to the Congress leadership and former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for their support during his tenure representing Kurukshetra. His formal induction into the BJP was marked by a ceremony at the party headquarters in New Delhi, attended by senior party figures including General Secretary Vinod Tawde.
The political landscape in Haryana sees significant shifts with these developments, particularly in Kurukshetra, where Naveen Jindal is slated to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. With the elections scheduled across seven phases from April 19 to June 1, these realignments underscore the dynamic nature of Indian politics, with results anticipated to reflect these changes on June 4.
