The Election Commission of India cautioned Telangana State Minister Konda Surekha for her remarks against former Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on April 1. Surekha was advised to exercise prudence and adhere to the electoral code of conduct. As a prominent campaigner and minister, she was reminded of her duty to maintain a high level of responsibility. The warning stemmed from a complaint filed by the BRS regarding Surekha’s comments about KTR.
During a press conference in Warangal, Surekha alleged blackmailing of actresses through phone tapping and scapegoating of officials, resulting in job loss and imprisonment. Her contentious remarks about KTR’s sister, Kavitha, visiting a religious site were also reported to the Election Commission by individuals including Karne Prabhakar and Dasoju Shravan.
