The Election Commission has taken a serious stance against Hyderabad BJP MP candidate Madhavi Latha for her actions at polling centers in the old town. She reportedly removed Muslim women’s burqas to check their voter slips, prompting objections from polling station officials. Following complaints from the women, the Election Commission condemned Madhavi’s actions and ordered a case to be registered against her.
However, Madhavi defended herself, claiming her actions were within her rights as a candidate. She asserted that she had the right to check EVMs for tampering and clarified that her actions were not targeted at any particular party. Election officials have investigated the matter and cleared any allegations of misconduct.
