Hyderabad, BJP’s Goshamahal T Raja Singh faced house arrest on Thursday to prevent his visit to Chengicherla village, where a communal clash erupted after Holi celebrations outside a mosque on March 24. Singh intended to distribute groceries among affected Hindu families. Despite his efforts, police barricades and the intervention of 10 Inspectors halted his plans, placing him under house arrest.
Singh condemned ongoing attacks on Hindus in Telangana, accusing the current government of failing to protect them. He criticized the electorate’s choice of the Congress government, believing it would safeguard them from AIMIM and Muslim assaults. Earlier attempts by ex-Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay to reach the village were similarly thwarted by Rachakonda police.

While the initial clash occurred on March 24, BJP and Hindu groups have prolonged discussions on the Chengicherla incident. Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad members staged a protest on March 25. BJP leaders, including Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay and Hyderabad Lok Sabha candidate Madhavi Latha, made contentious statements regarding the situation. Singh demanded the withdrawal of cases against Hindus in Chengicherla and urged the authorities to apprehend those responsible for attacking Holi celebrants.
