Veteran BRS Secretary General K Kesava Rao and Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi to Join Congress on March 30
In an official announcement, it has been confirmed that K Kesava Rao, the long-standing Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) secretary general and Rajya Sabha member, along with his daughter, Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, will be resigning from the party and joining the Congress on March 30.
The decision was disclosed by Kesava Rao himself after visiting the farmhouse of BRS president and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday evening. Despite KCR’s evident displeasure and strong words of disapproval, Kesava Rao remained firm in his resolve to return to the Congress, citing his long-standing association with the party spanning several decades.
Addressing the media following the meeting with KCR, Kesava Rao explained that his decision stemmed from his desire to retire as a Congress leader, reiterating his loyalty to the party. He expressed gratitude to the BRS leaders and cadre for their support throughout his political journey.
Vijayalakshmi, echoing her father’s sentiments, emphasized that her decision to join the Congress was driven by her commitment to effectively serve as the Mayor of Hyderabad and address the city’s pressing issues.
On the other hand, KK’s son Viplav Kumar clarified that he would remain with the BRS, emphasizing that his decision was independent of his father and sister’s choices.
The impending departure of Kesava Rao and Vijayalakshmi marks a significant shift in the political landscape, as they prepare to realign themselves with the Congress party on March 30.
