The upcoming weekend in Mumbai is likely to host a crucial meeting of senior national selectors who will finalize the 15-member Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup. Scheduled to be held in the West Indies and the USA later this year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sources disclosed this to IANS.
With the ICC’s deadline of May 1 looming, participating boards must announce their provisional squads for the prestigious event. Led by Ajit Agarkar, the BCCI’s selection committee faces the challenge of assembling a well-balanced 15-man squad, drawing from the performances of players in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.
Sources revealed to IANS, “The selectors are slated to convene on April 27 or 28 to finalize the 15-member squad. It’s going to be a tough decision given the impressive performances of some young talents in the current IPL.”
