Momentum of “Aavesham” seemed unstoppable as it neared 80 crore mark in Kerala, even touching 85 crore at one point. However, a significant dip in its fourth weekend collections has challenged these estimates.
This is the first time that “Aavesham” has seen such a drop since its release; there was 50% fall from last week to this week. The decline is even steeper in Kerala where it dropped by 55%. However, despite this setback the movie’s overall earnings stand at an impressive Rs. 95 crore after just four days which shows that it might reach the much sought-after 100 crore within no time.
This drop could have been caused by several factors such as competition from new movies. However, it is more likely that the reason behind these dips are due to rumors going round about digital release on May 9th. There has been no official announcement made yet but if they turn out true then we may as well say goodbye to seeing any more shows in theatres
Before now “Aavesham” had shown great staying power which made people think maybe it would gross upto 80 or even 85 crs at Kerala alone. Nevertheless with current deficit of 9 crores and chance of going digital its final numbers might not get beyond 75 crore mark.
