The cousin of former cricketer Suresh Raina, along with a friend, lost their lives in a hit-and-run accident near Gaggali airport. The driver responsible for the incident, identified as Sher Singh, fled the scene but was later apprehended with the help of CCTV footage.
The heartbreaking incident occurred late at night near Himachal Timber in Gaggal, as confirmed by Superintendent of Police Shalini Agnihotri. The victims, identified as Saurabh Kumar, Raina’s maternal cousin, and his friend Shubham, were riding a scooter when they collided with a car.
Authorities swiftly launched an investigation, aided by CCTV evidence, which led to the capture of the suspect, Sher Singh, in Mandi. A case has been filed against Singh under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act for rash driving and causing death by negligence.
This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of reckless driving and the importance of road safety measures.
