The Supreme Court stepped in to deal with the problem of false Patanjali ads still on the internet. They told Patanjali’s lawyers to quickly get rid of these ads from different websites.

During the hearing, Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah expressed concern over the persistence of misleading ads for Patanjali products, which are in violation of the prohibition orders. Senior Advocate Balbir Singh, representing Patanjali, assured the Court that the company would devise a plan to address this issue promptly.

The Court emphasized that products for which licenses have been suspended should not be sold, urging strict compliance with this directive. Additionally, the Court reprimanded state licensing authorities for failing to ensure the removal of such products from shelves.

Furthermore, the Court rejected a request for exemption from personal appearances by Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna, emphasizing the importance of their accountability in the matter.

In a separate development, the Court called for the response of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) President regarding alleged comments made against the Court in a media interview. The Court expressed strong disapproval of remarks criticizing the Court’s handling of the case.

During the proceedings, the Court also underscored the responsibility of social media influencers, celebrities, and public figures in endorsing products, emphasizing the need for them to be well-informed and accountable for their endorsements.

This proactive stance by the Supreme Court reflects its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in advertising practices, especially in cases involving public health and consumer rights.
