The Varanasi constituency, known for its historical and cultural significance, holds particular importance for PM Modi, who is seeking a third term there. He’s been nominated as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate, aiming to secure victory against formidable opponents like Comedian Shyam Rangeela, Congress’ Ajai Rai, and Bahujan Samajwadi Party’s (BSP) Athar Ali Lari.
Modi’s previous triumphs in 2014 and 2019 underline his strong foothold in Varanasi. In 2019, he clinched victory with a significant margin, securing over six lakh votes. Such success has solidified his position as a dominant figure in the region’s politics.
The upcoming elections, scheduled for June 1 in Varanasi, mark the final phase of the Lok Sabha polls. Results are expected on June 4, following the culmination of the seven-phase electoral process across the country.
This election season, the battle lines are drawn between the ruling BJP and the formidable opposition represented by the INDIA bloc. With ambitious goals, the BJP aims to secure over 370 Lok Sabha seats, capitalizing on its previous triumphs in 2019.
