It’s widely known that Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is embroiled in several disproportionate assets cases, with the CBI and ED having filed 20 chargesheets against him since 2012. Despite ongoing investigations, the judicial process has been marred by extensive delays. In response, both the High Court and Supreme Court have admonished the CBI court to prioritize the cases and deliver a verdict swiftly.

Recently, the Telangana High Court intervened, setting a new deadline for the verdict to be delivered by April 30. However, the anticipated judgment did not materialize. CBI judge Ramesh Babu attributed the delay to health complications, further complicating the already protracted legal proceedings. Additionally, Judge Ramesh Babu has been transferred to a different court, necessitating the appointment of a new judge.

This development entails that the new judge will be tasked with revisiting the cases from their inception in 2012, effectively resetting the investigative process. The incoming judge will need to meticulously review the 20 chargesheets filed by the CBI and ED, along with 130 discharge petitions submitted by Jagan and Vijayasai Reddy. Consequently, after 12 years of investigation, the cases against Jagan Mohan Reddy are compelled to revert to square one, prolonging the legal ordeal.
