Currently, the highways connecting Hyderabad to Andhra Pradesh are experiencing heavy traffic as residents from Andhra-Rayalaseema, based in Hyderabad, are making their way home to participate in the impending general elections. Traffic jams have been caused by an increase in traffic at Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road (ORR) checkpoints, especially at the Hayat Nagar circle and other exit points.
Amid the unavailability of bus and train tickets due to the voting day coinciding with a paid holiday and an approaching long weekend (Saturday to Monday), many individuals are resorting to carpooling as an alternative means of transportation.
The surge in voter travel from Hyderabad to Andhra Pradesh underscores the citizens’ earnestness in exercising their democratic rights and contributing to the Andhra Pradesh general election. Given the fondness of many Hyderabad-residing Andhra natives for ‘Hitech City’, speculation is rife regarding their voting preferences. Voter turnout in the upcoming elections is expected to be significantly impacted by this large influx of voters into Andhra Pradesh. As voting day approaches on May 13th, let’s all make our voices count by casting our votes.
