Tension has flared up in Machilipatnam, Krishna district, amid clashes involving the Kittu clans and Janasena leader Karri Mahesh’s family. The strife began when YCP candidate Perni Kittu’s campaign visit resulted in a confrontation.
Expressing their frustration, Mahesh’s family members objected to YCP supporters igniting firecrackers outside their residence. This led to an escalation in violence, with allegations emerging of arson and assault, including instances of rape.
In response, Janasena and TDP leaders, accompanied by the victim’s family, approached the local police station, demanding swift action. Despite lodging complaints, they expressed discontent over perceived police inaction.
Former minister and TDP candidate Kollu Ravindra, along with Janasena leader Bandi Ramakrishna, stood in solidarity with the victims, protesting against the authorities’ lack of response. Moreover, Ravindra and Janasena MP candidate Balashauri, along with a significant number of activists, took their grievances to the SP office, advocating for justice for the victims.
