Will the Stars shoot… if the shootings are allowed in Tollywood?

The COVID-19 lockdown has forced the Telugu Film Industry to come to a standstill. As the Government is gradually giving relaxations for some sectors, there is still a lot of uncertainty in the cinema industry. However, the Tamil Nadu Government has allowed post-production works to resume in Kollywood by imposing few guidelines to follow. The other day, few exhibitors in Hyderabad have also held a video conference to discuss the measures to open the cinema halls at the earliest.

Telangana Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav also discussed with cine bigwigs about the plans to permit shootings in the future. Even if the Government permits shootings, there is a big question mark over the senior heroes resuming the shootings. Many stars like Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Nagarjuna, and Venkatesh are in their sixties or close to entering that age. So, these stars might not feel it safe to attend movie shootings until a vaccine comes out.

If at all these stars decide against taking part in the shootings, many films of theirs at the production stage might only see light next year. Similarly, the young Tollywood stars might also hesitate to resume the work due to the panic of the pandemic. Hence, the industry might not get back to its full swing of activities even if the Government gives a nod for shootings. Likewise, few films like RRR need foreign technicians. Transporting them immediately to work here might not be possible. Besides, readjusting the dates of actors will also be a time-consuming task.

But, those films in the post-production stage and which were ready for a release when the lockdown was announced might go-ahead to complete them. And even if the theatres are opened it is not certain whether the audience turns up or not. So, many things are involved to resume movie shootings and to set the cash registers ringing once again in Tollywood. Till then, we can only wait and pray that a way out is found to gift our normal lives back.
