The YSRCP has appealed to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to address concerns regarding Narayana Educational Institutions. This institution, which manages various schools and colleges, faces accusations of mishandling the personal data of enrolled students’ families.
YSRCP’s General Secretary and MLC Lella Appireddy submitted an official representation to CEO Mukesh Kumar Meena, urging the ECI to act. The party specifically demanded the disqualification of Dr. Ponguru Narayana, the institution’s chairman, from elections due to alleged constitutional violations.
Highlighting the significant student enrollment in Narayana-affiliated institutions, Appireddy noted Dr. Ponguru Narayana’s past ministerial role in the TDP government. Eyeing a potential candidacy from Nellore, Narayana faces allegations in multiple criminal cases.
During the meeting, Appireddy presented a circular from Narayan Educational Institutions in Nellore. The form, given to students, requests extensive details about their family members, including family particulars, addresses, phone numbers, booth numbers, and voter IDs.
Expressing serious concerns, Appireddy questioned the motive behind collecting sensitive information. He alleged that Narayana Educational Institutions aim to influence the families of student voters, accusing them of violating privacy by obtaining voter IDs and booth numbers.
YSRCP’s advocacy for action underscores its commitment to preserving the electoral process’s integrity and ensuring ethical practices by educational institutions. The Election Commission of India is now tasked with investigating these allegations and addressing the YSRCP’s concerns. Stay updated on this developing situation.
