On Wednesday, prominent figures from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Janasena made a significant move by joining Andhra Pradesh’s ruling YSR Congress Party. This included former MLA Pamula Rajeswari Devi from Janasena, R. Ramesh Kumar Reddy from TDP, and Jana Sena’s Pothina Mahesh. Their formal induction took place in the presence of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy during his Memantha Siddham Yatra in Gantavaripalem, Palnadu district.
In addition to these key additions, several other leaders from TDP also switched to YSR Congress. Notable among them were former ZPTC Mohan Reddy, former MPP Umapathi Reddy, and former marketing committee chairman K. Prabhakara Reddy. The influx of new members also included various leaders from different ranks within the Jana Sena party, further strengthening YSRCP’s base.
Conversely, YSRCP MLC Shaikh Mohammed Iqbal crossed over to TDP, receiving a warm welcome from TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu. Iqbal’s departure comes after resigning from YSRCP, citing dissatisfaction over party decisions. Previously holding key positions in the police department and serving as Chief Security Officer to Naidu, Iqbal’s move reflects the ongoing political dynamics in Andhra Pradesh.
