OpenAI’s GPT-4o Offers Advanced AI Accessibility and Capabilities

OpenAI has Launches Chat GPT-4o, an upgraded version of its renowned Chat GPT-4 model, promising improved speed and expanded capabilities across text, vision, and audio domains. In a recent livestream announcement, OpenAI CTO Mira Murati emphasized that the new model will be freely accessible to all users, with paying subscribers enjoying even greater capacity limits.

What is GPT-4o?
GPT-4o represents OpenAI’s latest flagship model, designed to seamlessly integrate text, vision, and audio processing in real time. Available to all OpenAI API account holders, GPT-4o can be utilized across various API endpoints, including the Chat Completions API, Assistants API, and Batch API. Additionally, users can explore its functionalities through the Playground interface.

Accessing GPT-4o via the API
OpenAI has made GPT-4o available within the ChatGPT ecosystem and API, initially focusing on text and vision capabilities. Free-tier users will automatically access GPT-4o, with message limitations subject to adjustments based on usage patterns. In scenarios where GPT-4o is unavailable, users will default to the GPT-3.5 model.

For ChatGPT Plus and Team subscribers, GPT-4o can be selected from the drop-down menu on chatgpt.com, offering a higher message usage cap. By paying $5 or more, users can unlock access to GPT-4, GPT-4 Turbo, and GPT-4o models via the OpenAI API.

Additional Features and Usage Capabilities
Starting May 13th, 2024, ChatGPT-4o Plus subscribers can send up to 80 messages every 3 hours, while ChatGPT-4 Plus users are allotted up to 40 messages within the same timeframe. These limits may be adjusted during peak hours to ensure accessibility for all users.

It’s important to note that unused messages do not carry over to the next cycle, emphasizing the need to utilize allotted quotas effectively. Moreover, within ChatGPT Team workspaces, message caps for both GPT-4 and GPT-4o are set higher compared to ChatGPT Plus accounts.
