Dinesh Phadnis, renowned for his portrayal of CID officer Fredericks on the popular Sony TV show CID, passed away due to liver issues at midnight on Tuesday. His co-star from CID, Dayanand Shetty, confirmed the sad news, stating, “Dinesh breathed his last at 12.08 am.”
The actor had been undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Tunga Hospital, and his last rites are scheduled to take place at Daulat Nagar Crematorium, Borivali East.
Earlier reports of Dinesh suffering a heart attack were clarified by Dayanand Shetty, who revealed that Dinesh was dealing with liver damage, not a heart attack. Shetty emphasized the importance of cautious medication, sharing that the treatment for another ailment adversely affected Dinesh’s liver.
Dinesh Phadnis, known for bringing humor to CID as the funny and innocent Fredericks, worked alongside Shivaji Satam and Aditya Shrivastava. Reflecting on his journey, Dinesh mentioned in an interview, “I remember I was struggling for roles, and wherever I went to seek work, I met B P Singh (producer of CID). Finally, he asked me if I wanted to join CID, and that’s how my journey began.”
Dinesh Phadnis played a crucial role in introducing humor to CID, previously a show without comedic elements. He expressed gratitude for the positive response from the audience, stating, “The show earlier had no humor at all. So I was chosen to be the comic relief. And I must say that I have received a great response from the masses.
