The Officer Who Saved Tirupathi Lands is SuspendedJun 30, 2020 12:43 PM
The people of both the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were deeply upset about the proposal to sell TTD lands belonging to Sri Venkateshwara Swamy. The public backlash was so much that the Government immediately had to take back the decision. But the officer who leaked this information to media, TTD Estate Officer V Devender Reddy was suspended by the Government. No specific reason was given by the Government other than the general reason for violating the norms while on duty. Orders to this effect were passed by JSV Prasad Secretary of Revenue Department of TTD.
The lands which the Government tried to sell to raise money for welfare programs were located in Tamil Nadu. BJP and Jana Sena in Telangana have also protested for a day by observing hunger fast. Many temple priests, religious leaders and peethadhipathis etc have condemned that decision.
TTD was thoroughly embarrassed by this turn events. They have concluded that the leak to media by an internal member is responsible for this embarrassment. They launched an enquiry into their officers and zeroed in on Deputy collector rank officer Devender Reddy. Based on the report of the enquiry he was suspended
Though it was illegal to leak official information to media, one should appreciate the officer for saving the Temple lands from becoming private.
