On the second day of Mahanadu Telugu Desam Party demanded for the highest civilian award Bharat Ratna for former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and founder of TDP N.T. Rama Rao. It is to recognize the phenomenal contribution of this legend in socio-political life, art, cinema, and helping the downtrodden by implementing schemes like ‘cheap rice for the poor’. His impressive persona in Telugu film industry and immense popularity in Andhra Pradesh helped in winning the election in 1983. Defeating Congress was akin to Telugu Atma Gauravam (Telugu self-respect). The announcement was made on his Birth anniversary. NTR formed the TDP party in 1982 and it was an immediate success in the 1983 election when the party was hardly 9 months old.

The TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu is adamant that NTR should receive this award. According to him, NTR played a major role in breaking the monopoly of the Congress party and creating an alternate not only locally but on a national level.

While addressing his cadre on Mahanadu former CM Chandrababu stated that he will not succumb to the false charges by the ruling party. He will take inspiration from the party founders and spoke about the exemplary leadership of NTR and his allies who were dismissed undemocratically during the Indira Gandhi regime. The slogan of Save Democracy and the agitation ran for 30 days which turned out to be a major event in the political history of the country.

He criticized the current Government in mishandling the case of Dalit doctor Sudhakar; also accusing them of rowdyism and goondaism.
