Abhishek Bachchan has completed 20 years in Bollywood. He made his debut with JP Datta’s war film Refugee. It was released in 2000 and Kareena Kapoor played the female lead. This film was also a Launchpad for the Kapoor girl too. On this occasion, the ‘Dhoom’ cop kept chronicling the events of his two decades career on his Instagram account.

In one such post, Abhishek Bachchan explained how he had to struggle to get his first opportunity. Reminding those days of journey with his friend Rakeysh Om Mehra, he said that both of them wanted to start their film careers together by making ‘Samjhauta Express’. He clarified that the plans never took off. ‘We both were friends and decided that Rakeysh could direct and I would act in and that’s how Samjhauta Express was conceived. Alas, the film never got made (a regret we still have in our hearts)’ stated the actor.

Furthermore, Jr ‘B’ also shared that he met several producers and directors asking them to give him an opportunity to act.’ I forget how many producers and directors I met and requested to give me an opportunity to act. But to no avail!’ remembered the actor. Abhishek Bachchan then explained that he got the opportunity in Refugee as a leading man when he was spotted by JP Dutta on the sets of Aks directed by his friend Rakeysh Mehra.

So, during the days of outrageous debate on nepotism in Bollywood, Abhishek Bachchan’s post tells that everything is not offered on a platter for the star kids too. Abhishek also revealed how he used to be in awe of Aishwarya Rai and recalled his working days with her while shooting for Maniratnam’s ‘Ravan’. To think that she had to perform each scene (regardless of how emotionally and physically challenging) baffles me. And to do it twice each time - as we were shooting the Hindi and Tamil versions simultaneously. Huge salute!" expressed Abhishek about his wife.
