Gautam Gambhir, the former captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during their successful IPL campaigns in 2012 and 2014, has made a triumphant return to the franchise, this time in the role of a mentor. The IPL team, owned by Shah Rukh Khan, experienced notable success under Gambhir’s leadership, qualifying for the playoffs five times and reaching the Champions League T20 finals in 2014. In his new role, Gambhir will collaborate with head coach Chandrakant Purohit, as well as assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, assistant coach James Foster, bowling coach Bharat Arun, and fielding coach Ryan Ten Doeschate.
Expressing his emotions about returning to KKR, Gautam Gambhir shared on social media, “I am not an emotional person, and not many things move me. But this is different. This is back to where it all started.” He expressed his excitement about donning the purple and gold jersey again and returning to the vibrant city of joy. Earlier in the day, Gautam Gambhir stepped down as the mentor of the IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He expressed gratitude to everyone involved in his journey with LSG and wished the team success in the future. Dr. Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of LSG, received appreciation from Gautam Gambhir for his inspiring leadership.
