Spike in Corona Cases in Andhra Pradesh

In spite of assurances given by Government of AP that the situation is under control, the number of Corona related cases are growing steadily. On Thursday, the State registered 425 positive cases for Covid-19 the highest spike in a single day. Of these 299 patients are local and 126 patients are those who have returned from other states and countries.

There is a criticism that the State Government is not actually doing enough to control the disease being spread from those who are coming from outside AP. In spite of claiming 6 lakhs Covid-19 tests so far, Andhra Pradesh is still behind the states like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. So far 92 people have lost their lives due to coronavirus in the state.

Meanwhile, AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy skipped PM Modi's consultations with various Chief Ministers on Covid-19 to discuss the situation and plan 'Unlock 2.0'. Even though some sources claimed that it was due to ongoing Assembly budget session, CM Jagan left for his residence around the scheduled PM's videoconference time. Attending such important meetings would assure public that Coronavirus is being dealt on priority.
