Reworking on Saansad Adarsh Gram YojanaJul 31, 2020 10:50 AM
Many schemes have been launched to date by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the welfare of the people. Recently a study was conducted by the Union Ministry of Rural Development on Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, also called the SAGY. The Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the year 2014. The study reveals that no significant impact can be seen as made by the scheme. Also, it is not achieving its desired purpose for what it was intended to. PM Modi has urged the MPs to bring desired changes. For that, he has asked them to adopt more than one village in their constituency and then transform them into the model villages.
It has been found that there are not just structural but political flaws too I'm the design of SAGY, although it was a good idea in principle. Moreover, it does not comprehend the ground reality. Even if not impossible but any of the Members of Parliament will find it difficult to prioritize one village over the other. On average, a Lok Sabha MP is the sole representative of more than 1.5 million voters from different religions, castes, age groups, and genders. Each of these voters has its own demands. Any MP cannot handpick a few villages. Doing so would be politically counterproductive and can bother the delicate social counterbalance in any of these villages or constituencies.
No separate budget has been allocated for the scheme and the MPs are already not willing to allocate funds for the upcoming projects of the model villages from the MP Local Area Development Scheme.
