The movie ‘Ramabanam’, starring Gopichand and directed by Srivas, has not been well received by audiences and critics. Despite strong marketing efforts, the movie had worse openings than Gopichand’s previous film ‘Pakka Commercial’. It grossed Rs.2.45 crore on the first day worldwide, with a distributor’s share of Rs.1.27 crores. The first-day share in Telugu states was Rs.1.17 crores, less than half of ‘Pakka Commercial’s share.
The movie’s storyline combined the sentiment of brothers and sisters with a social message about organic food. While some viewers appreciated the family emotions in the movie, most people reacted negatively, and critics gave poor ratings. Despite this, the occupancy of theaters increased on the second day, giving the movie a chance to pick up over the weekend if family audiences show up in large numbers.
‘Ramabanam’ was highly anticipated due to the successful collaboration between Gopichand and Srivas on previous hit movies like ‘Lakshyam’ and ‘Laukyam’. The movie also received hype when Nandamuri Balakrishna titled it as ‘Ramabanam’. However, Srivas was not able to capitalize on this, as his previous movies ‘Dictator’ and ‘Sakshyam’ also flopped at the box office. Overall, ‘Ramabanam’ may add another flop to Gopichand’s filmography if it fails to pick up over the weekend.
