Relief for OCI Card holders Working Abroad

The Vande Bharat Mission is already going on to bring stranded Indians abroad. However, the central government had announced that Overseas Citizen of India cardholders who are stuck abroad. The ministry of home affairs clearly stated that OCI card holders on family emergency are allowed to travel to India.

The category includes small children born to Indian Nationals abroad with OCI cards. It applies to couples where one is an Indian National and the other is an OCI cardholder. Also it includes University students who are OCI cardholders.

The OCI card is given to people of Indian origin living abroad. They hold certain privileges which are enjoyed by the citizens of the country. The only exception is buying an agricultural land, contesting election, and voting. Since March after the lockdown nearly 23,000 Indians are stranded abroad and many of them have been rescued through government's Vande Bharat Mission.

The Government has so far deployed war ships, Air India Passenger Jets to various countries in the world right from Middle-East to North America and Australia. Citizens are even brought back from neighboring Nepal, Bangladesh. Vande Bharat mission had been extended to June 13. Also there is a possibility of private airlines being involved.
