In a recent development, MLA Jagadish Reddy has challenged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over farmer assurances. In a bold move, he declared that if he made any assurances to a farmer and failed to fulfill them, he would resign from his MLA post.
Reddy’s challenge comes after many farmers expressed their worry about the delay in disbursing the Rythu Bandhu scheme started by Chief Minister KCR. The scheme has not been implemented for five months now despite promises leaving most of the farmers in huge debts.
The MLA’s position reflects the disappointment and anger amongst the farming community who were waiting for benefits that never came their way. What this means is that urgent measures need to be taken with regards to addressing these challenges within agriculture as highlighted by such statements from leaders like Mr.Reddy himself.
The current stalemate between MLA Jagadish Reddy and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy brings out one thing; there is need for good governance systems coupled with clear channels of communication when delivering on promises made towards farmers. It remains to be seen what action will be taken but until then people are looking upto government so they can fulfill their obligations thereby helping struggling individuals within this sector.
