Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM Modi), addressing an open meeting in Warangal, Telangana, accused the Congress government of exploiting people through what he termed as the “double R tax.” Modi elaborated that in this scheme, one “R” represents Rahul Gandhi, and the other stands for Revanth Reddy. He alleged that funds siphoned from the state are being funneled to Congress leaders in both Delhi and Hyderabad, painting a picture of Congress-ruled states as potential cash machines for the party.
Modi questioned the Congress’s promises, particularly regarding loan waivers for farmers and pensions for women. He criticized the party for failing to fulfill these commitments, despite making assurances during election campaigns. Furthermore, Modi highlighted the halt in development and the depletion of state finances since the Congress assumed power in Telangana, raising concerns about where the money is being diverted.
Citing examples such as the alleged discovery of currency notes linked to a Congress MP in Jharkhand, PM Modi contended that corruption and black money thrived under Congress rule. He asserted that the BJP’s governance at the Centre had significantly reduced such malpractices, prompting criticism from the Congress. Modi also accused the Congress of disregarding the Constitution and B.R. Ambedkar’s principles, particularly regarding religious reservations, alleging that the party aims to reallocate SC, ST, and OBC reservations to Muslims. He highlighted the BJP’s appointment of Dalit and Adivasi individuals as President upon assuming power, contrasting it with the Congress’s alleged intentions.
