Amaravati: The Jana Sena Party filed a plea urging that the glass symbol not be assigned to any other party in areas where they are not contesting. However, the Andhra Pradesh High Court granted only partial relief.
Following suit, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) also filed an urgent petition concerning the same symbol. They expressed concerns that assigning it to candidates outside of Jana Sena could adversely affect their alliance candidates.
Today, the High Court held a hearing on TDP’s petition. The Election Commission remarked that the glass tumbler symbol is free and cannot be exclusively reserved for Jana Sena across Andhra Pradesh at this stage.
With the election process already underway and symbols allocated, changing them now isn’t feasible. Granting the petitioner’s request could lead to continuous petitions until the elections end. The High Court adjourned the next hearing to tomorrow.
