Protesters clash with police during post-election unrest in Andhra Pradesh.

In various regions of Andhra Pradesh, post-election unrest erupted on Tuesday, keeping law enforcement busy. Incidents of clashes between rival political factions were reported in areas like Tirupati, Tadipatri, and the politically charged Palnadu region.

In Tirupati’s Chandragiri constituency, TDP MLA Pulivarthi Nani was inspecting the strongroom at Sri Padmavathi Mahila University when attackers, allegedly supporters of YSRC, ambushed his vehicle. They pelted empty beer bottles, stones, and even attacked him with iron rods. In response, Nani’s security personnel fired warning shots to disperse the assailants. TDP supporters staged protests, demanding action against the culprits, escalating tensions.

Following the incident, hundreds of TDP supporters from Chandragiri and surrounding areas gathered in Tirupati, demanding justice and action against the attackers. Nani was hospitalized for treatment. The situation intensified as TDP supporters set fire to two motorcycles belonging to YSRC leaders.

Meanwhile, clashes erupted between supporters of both parties in Tadipatri, leading to police intervention with lathi charges and tear gas to disperse the unruly crowds. Additional police and paramilitary forces were deployed to restore calm and maintain order.
