Janasena chief and Panchayat Raj minister, Pawan Kalyan, who is also the deputy chief minister, is currently in the spotlight due to a new report trending on social media. This report pertains to the Swachch Andhra department, which is under the jurisdiction of the Panchayat Raj ministry.
Established by Chandrababu Naidu in 2015, the Swachch Andhra department reportedly had Rs 2092 crore in funds during the 2020-21 fiscal year, when the YCP government was newly in power. However, by the time the YCP government left office in 2024, the department’s funds had dramatically decreased to just Rs 7.04 crore.
When Pawan Kalyan requested the financial report for this department, he seemed surprised to find out about the significant loss of funds. With the sharp decline from over 2000 crore in 2021 to just 7 crore in 2024, Pawan has reason for grave concern. He has insisted on a detailed report on the financial transactions that led to the money outflow in order to identify the source of this financial anomaly. This report might be made available soon.
