He started his political journey Independently. In 1973, He worked as Police Patel and he was elected unanimously as Sarpanch of Chimanpally in 1981, and in 1986, Goverdhan was elected as Sirikonda Mandal Parishad President.

Early life:

Govardhan was born to Digambar and Shanthamma in Chimanpalle village of Sirikonda Mandal, Nizamabad District , Telangana State . He completed his BA in 1992 from Ambedkar Universal University. After that he did agriculture for some time.

Political career:

In 1986, he became the Director of A.P. State Finance Corporation and contested as an independent candidate from Armoor Assembly constituency in 1994, when he secured 33,000 votes. Later on, he worked as Chairman of PACS. He worked as Chairman of the Committee on Housing Board.
He joined the Indian National Congress Party. From 1999-2004, he served as Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Armoor constituency, Nizamabad Dist from Congress Party. From 2004-2009, He was elected as Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Banswada Constituency, Nizamabad Dist from Congress Party.
He joined the TRS(Telangana Rashtra Samithi) Party. From 2014-2018, he served as Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Nizamabad Rural constituency, Nizamabad Dist from TRS Party. From 2015-2018, he worked as Chairman of the House Committee on Wakf Lands, Telangana Legislature.
In 2018, He was elected as Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Nizamabad Rural constituency, Nizamabad Dist from TRS Party.

Personal life:

Govardhan is married to Vinoda and Sobharani. They have two sons and one daughter.
