The recent arrest of three alleged contract killers in Canada has shed light on a concerning issue the presence of Punjab gangsters living freely in the country. Despite being aware of their activities, Canadian authorities have remained silent on the matter, raising questions about their cooperation with Indian counterparts.

The trio arrested, Kamalpreet Singh, Karanpreet Singh, and Karan Brar, were linked to criminal gangs in Punjab and Haryana. Surprisingly, they were living in Canada on temporary visas without proper documentation, prompting concerns about why they were not deported back to India.

While the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has expressed willingness to collaborate with Indian agencies to uncover connections, there’s a glaring lack of action regarding extradition requests for seven known Punjab gangsters living in Canada. Efforts from Indian security agencies have been futile, as the Trudeau government appears uncooperative, seemingly prioritizing political interests over security concerns.

The list of these gangsters, shared with Canadian Intelligence and RCMP over the years, includes individuals involved in contract killings and extortion. Despite requests for extradition, the Trudeau government, often accused of appeasing pro-Khalistani groups for political gain, has failed to cooperate.

These gangsters, living in various parts of Canada, exploit loopholes in the immigration system, often seeking political asylum to evade deportation. Meanwhile, their criminal activities continue to impact communities in Punjab and Haryana, with reports of extortion and harassment reaching beyond borders.

The situation highlights the urgent need for cooperation between Indian and Canadian authorities to address cross-border criminal activities. Failure to act not only undermines security efforts but also perpetuates a cycle of impunity for those involved in organized crime.
