Great Andhra survey: Recent grassroots surveys conducted by Great Andhra indicate that the upcoming elections in Uttarandhra are poised to be highly competitive, with no single party expected to secure a decisive victory. Surprisingly, the TDP-Janasena alliance has emerged as a formidable contender, particularly in Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam, where it poses a challenge to the ruling YCP. Despite this, YCP maintains a lead in Vijayanagaram, highlighting the varied electoral landscape across the region.
Out of the total 34 MLA seats in the region, YCP currently holds sway in 18 seats, while the remaining seats show potential for shifting towards the TDP-Janasena alliance, especially with the nomination of suitable candidates.
In Srikakulam district, the YCP holds dominance in five out of ten seats, while the TDP alliance leads in the others. Vizianagaram district, which witnessed a clean sweep by YCP in the 2019 elections, is now showing signs of shifting towards the TDP, indicating a changing political landscape.
The city of Visakhapatnam presents a closely contested scenario, with YCP leading in seven seats and the TDP alliance in eight. In Visakhapatnam city itself, the YCP maintains a lead in the South and North constituencies, while the TDP gains ground in the East and West constituencies. The Janasena-TDP alliance appears to have strong support in Bhimunipatnam, Gajuwaka, Pendurthi, Anakapalli, Narsipatnam, and Elamanchili. Conversely, YCP is favored in Chodavaram, Payakaraopeta, Madugula, Araku, and Paderu.
Overall, while YCP continues to maintain its dominance in the region, it faces challenges due to anti-incumbency sentiments. On the other hand, the TDP-Janasena alliance shows promising momentum, although securing a total victory remains uncertain. Nonetheless, the upcoming elections in Uttarandhra survey are expected to be fiercely contested, with each party vying for the support of the electorate to secure their mandate.
