Negotiations on Pothireddypadu Works

Andhra and Telangana are at loggerheads with each other with regards to the lifting scheme over Krishna River at the shore of the Srisailam reservoir. The matter is taken to Delhi by the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.

There was a letter written by the Krishna Water Management Board to the Andhra Pradesh Government demanding an explanation for violating the AP Reorganisation Act. Even the Union water resource ministry will intervene in this issue. Union water resource minister Gajendra Shekawat and Bandi Sanjay president of BJP Telangana requested the Krishna River Management Board to look into the details and various technicalities.

Krishna River Management Board demanded the Andhra Pradesh to submit the DPR (Detailed Project Report). Everything must be according to the AP State Reorganisation Act 2014 otherwise the project will stop.

Gajendra Shekawat directed the officials for a meeting of the apex council. This is to discuss the utilization of water from the Krishna River from both the states.

Recently, Chief Minister of Telangana had shown his displeasure over the new irrigation project. The arbitrary decision taken by the neighboring state was meted with criticism by the Government of Telangana. The Chief Minister of Telangana has shown his concern over the lift irrigation project. He stated that it would impact many districts of Telangana in the coming days. The situation was terrible and people around districts would lack drinking water.
