Pawan Kalyan’s 2021 courtroom drama Vakeel Saab, which marked his return to the big screen during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, enjoyed a decent run but fell short of the massive success anticipated. Recently, the film was re-released across 350 screens in Telugu states, but the results were underwhelming.
The trend of re-releases has significantly slowed down in Tollywood. This, coupled with the current peak election season that has voters more focused on political campaigns, likely contributed to the lack of audience interest in Vakeel Saab‘s re-release. While some fan occupancy was observed for evening shows at RTC X Roads in Hyderabad, overall attendance was sparse. Many theaters across the state reportedly experienced canceled shows due to low ticket sales.
Based on estimates from tracked centers, the re-release’s gross collections are estimated to be in the range of 18-20 lakhs, including black market sales. This translates to a disappointing performance for a much-hyped re-release.
