The latest installment in the popular Tamil horror-comedy franchise, Aranmanai, titled Aranmanai 4 (released as Baak in Telugu), has met with mixed reactions from audiences. While the film has garnered a positive response in Tamil Nadu, its Telugu reception has been less enthusiastic.
This difference in reception can likely be attributed to audience preferences. The Telugu audience, it seems, is finding the horror-comedy blend in Aranmanai 4 to be somewhat routine. Conversely, Tamil audiences appear to be embracing the film, propelling its box office performance there.
Aranmanai 4’s box office figures paint a clear picture. The Telugu version, Baak, opened with a modest ₹40 lakh gross and managed to climb to ₹55 lakh gross on its second day. However, with a total gross of ₹95 lakh (share of ₹45 lakh) in two days, the film falls far short of the ₹2.5 crore gross typically needed for success in the Telugu market.
In stark contrast, the Tamil version of Aranmanai 4 has enjoyed a strong showing. The film debuted with an impressive ₹4 crore plus gross on day one, followed by a robust ₹6 crore plus gross on day two. This strong performance has pushed the Tamil Nadu gross collection past ₹10 crore in just two days. When combined with the Telugu figures, the film’s all-India gross reaches a noteworthy ₹12 crore. Worldwide estimates suggest a gross collection in the range of ₹13.5 crore.
The positive momentum witnessed on day two in Tamil Nadu indicates a potential for continued success on the third day. Overall, Aranmanai 4 presents a case of a film resonating strongly with one audience while failing to capture the imagination of another.
