The shootings were stopped and theatres were shut in Tollywood a week before the COVID-19 lockdown was announced. Since then the industry is suffering a lot and workers had to sit idle without any income. However, CCC (Corona Crisis Charity) formed under Chiranjeevi supplied the essentials to the cine workers during the shutdown times. As many sectors are relaxed from the lockdown now, the cine industry also wants to resume its operations.

In this regard, Minister TalasaniSrinivasYadav has called for a meeting in Megastar Chiranjeevi’s residence today to discuss the issues of Tollywood. Apart from Chiru, other industry bigwigs like Nagarjuna, Suresh Babu, and DilRaju, etc will take part in this meeting. In this, they will take up the key issues of resuming shootings and also opening of the cinema halls.

Several films are in their last stage of completion and huge stakes are involved in them. Hence, the TFI wants to complete those films to release them in theatres once they are opened or at least on OTT to ease the burden on makers. The shootings of TV serials will also be discussed in the meet. The panel constituted under Chiranjeevi will discuss with the minister and come out with the guidelines to resume the activity in Tollywood.

Even the Minister also expressed his concern over the situation in Tollywood a couple of days back. He also quoted the plight of cine workers and also the producers who invested heavy amounts on their projects. Due to the lockdown, the releases of 25 movies were withheld and about 50 films which completed half of the shoot had to be suspended.

So, the Minister will have a talk on post-COVID guidelines with the celebrities. Accordingly, the shootings might be allowed with a limited crew by strictly adhering to the medical advice and restrictions. After the meeting, TalasaniSrinivasYadav will take up the issue with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to take a final decision on Tollywood.
