It is in news and top priority to speed-up clinical trials of an indigenous vaccine for Covid-19 by ICMR. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) are in partner with Bharat Biotech International Limited (BBIL) for the clinical trials of the vaccine. There are 12 institutions were the trials are held throughout the country. And it is now “top priority project” and everything is fast-tracked. The public-use will be available by 15th of August post clinical trials.,/p>
BBIL is working full-fledged on the trial and they are in strong pursuit to meet the target. The institutes working on the clinical trials are situated in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Rohtak, New Delhi, Patna, Belgaum (Karnataka), Nagpur, Gorakhpur, Kattankulathur (Tamil Nadu), and Arya Nagar.
On Thursday Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) permitted to conduct human clinical trials for Covid-19 vaccine in phase one and phase two. It will be done by Pharma company Zydus Cadila.
The statement made by Zydus Cadila to Indian Stock Exchange had been encouraging. The vaccine had positive results on animal studies as well as it showed “strong immune response.”
The human trials will start shortly in a month time maybe taking 1000 subjects from various sites in India. Let’s hope for the best.
