Grand Celebration of Birth Centenary of PV Narasimha RaoJun 20, 2020 02:49 PM
Telangana's CM KCR has announced that the state Government will celebrate ex-PM PV Narasimha Rao's centenary celebrations for one year, starting this year 28 June coinciding with his birth anniversary. During this announcement, CM KCR has reminded every one of the contributions and services rendered by PVNR as Freedom fighter, as Chief Minister, as Central Government Minister, as Educationist, Literary Figure and as Prime Minister. He said it's a matter of great pride for Telangana that such a multi-talent person hailed from the state.
"To recollect and recall the great services rendered by the renowned statesman in various fields, his centenary celebrations would be held on a grand scale,” the Chief Minister said.
A committee was set up under the chairmanship of Rajya Sabha member K. Keshava Rao. The Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma, PVNR's son PV Prabhakar Rao and his daughter Vani Devi, Ministers Etela Rajender, KT Rama Rao, Language commission chairman Devulapalli Prabhakar Rao, author “Ampasayya” Naveen are constituted as members in the Committee.
The committee was advised to get in touch with those who had interactions with PV, his friends, well-wishers, fans etc., The committee met here on Thursday at Keshava Rao's residence and discussed 12 major programs that would take place from June 28th, one program per month.
A few suggestions were made to the committee. A national seminar about PVNR, PV Narasimha Rao memorial similar to the memorial of former President APJ Abdul Kalam, Start the celebrations at "Gnana Bhumi" on the necklace road, organize different programs in Warangal, explore options to install a statue of PVNR in Parliament, expand the members in the present centenary celebrations committee.
During the meeting, Keshava Rao said, "The country is now on a strong economic footing only because of his economic policies that helped India emerge as the fourth largest economic power in the world.”
