Enforcement Directorate Initiates Probe into ESI ScamJun 17, 2020 07:28 AM
Yesterday, Enforcement Directorate (ED) authorities have conducted searches in Vijayawada to gather information on ESI scam, Amaravati land scam, and agrigold scam.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has recently arrested TDP MLA Acham Naidu in connection with the ESI scam. Ramesh Kumar and Vijay Kumar, two former directors of ESI, were also taken into custody by the ACB to probe into scams pertaining to the purchase of medicines, medical kits, and furniture. ACB said the officers submitted fake bills and invoices to the state exchequer, and all this happened under the helm of Acham Naidu.
ACB has stated that funds over Rs. 150 crores were misappropriated between 2014 and 2019.
However, the TDP party has dismissed these claims and termed it as “Vendetta Politics”. The party leaders opined that YSRCP is displaying undue haste in Acham Naidu’s case. They added that Jagan’s government is deliberately trying to frame Acham Naidu in a false scam.
After taking over charge as CM last year, Jagan appointed over three Special Investigation Teams (SITs) and six committees to probe the irregularities of the former TDP government.
