Do YSRCP Deserve Funds From the Center?

Magnanimous project but lack of infrastructure and Job creation is what anyone can accuse Jagan Mohan Reddy and YSRCP. An empty promise like 30 lakh houses for poor people with no employment is a sham. People are taken for a ride and despite a 75% increase in liquor prices back in May is not helping the state to recover. Back in October 2019, Jagan Mohan Reddy announced Rs 195/- Crore to the dwindling weaver’s trade. Every weaver under SR Nethanna Nestha scheme was supposed to receive Rs 24,000/-. The money was divided into Rs 2000/- per month. Due to red-tapism, many people did not receive the money. One of the weavers set his machine on fire.

In October 2019 the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh also discussed the building of the new capital city with the Prime Minister. But as we all know that there is a huge ambiguity about the state capital. And the State Government is looking to divide the state capital for administrative purpose. There is a huge burden on building the infrastructure and everyone including the opposition as well as Telugus living in foreign country objected to the decision. There had been a huge outrage in shifting the capital from Amravati. And Amravati movement had gained plenty of traction.

Amid such corruption, YSRCP members met the minister in the center with regards to development projects. State Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy also met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman for funds. The State Finance Minister had requested funds from Union minister of state for finance Anurag Thakur for Polavaram project. The State Government begged for Special Category Status which was rejected. Perhaps Andhra Pradesh Government should concentrate on management and stop unnecessary jingoism. As the old saying goes, “Beggars can’t be choosers.”
