There is good news after the lockdown. In fact, an old saying has come true – “necessary is a mother of all invention.” DRDO in Hyderabad has invented a sanitizing UVC cabinet. The RCI laboratory developed a contactless Ultraviolet Sanitizer. The sanitizer does not require any human intervention or touch. It is brilliantly automated.

Research Centre Imarat(RCI) is an integral part of the Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO). The sanitizer is called Defense Research Ultraviolet Sanitizer (DRUVS). DRUVS covers the entire material that requires sanitization. Total exposure to UV is done through it. It does not require any human contact because once it is sanitized it immediately gets into sleep mode. It is useful in any offices and banks where thousands of customers visit every day. Ultraviolet Sanitizer sanitizes currency notes, paper, passbooks, challans. It also sanitizes electronic items such as laptops, iPads, and mobile phones.

Such technology is the need of the hour in stopping the spread of the deadly virus. As the lockdown is easing; therefore such innovation would be useful in containing the spread of the disease.
