India’s captain Rohit Sharma was named Player of the Match for his excellent innings of 92 runs from 41 balls versus Australia. He claimed that instead of concentrating much on hitting 50 or 100 runs, he tries to put early pressure on bowlers.
Following his half-century in India’s opening game against Ireland, Rohit Sharma scores declined in the next contests. He did, however, make a strong comeback against Australia, hitting 224.39 with seven fours and eight sixes.
During the match, Rohit stated that his goal was to continue attacking and making the bowlers think, rather than to achieve a century.
“I said in my previous post-match interview that individual scores like 50s and 100s don’t matter much to me. I wanted to maintain a high tempo and keep putting pressure on the bowlers by playing attacking shots whenever I could. Today, I managed to do that well,” Rohit said.
In addition to Rohit’s outstanding batting, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Hardik Pandya made significant contributions to India’s 205/5 total, which included a match-high 15 sixes.
India’s bowlers, led by Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh, did well to restrict Australia to 181/7 in response. This win ensured India finished unbeaten in the Super Eight stage, setting up a semifinal against defending champions England on June 27 in Guyana.
