New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi commenced the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in Manipur on Sunday, promising to bring peace and harmony to the strife-torn region. As he addressed a public gathering in Thoubal, south Imphal, the former Congress president took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that, “Perhaps for the BJP and the RSS, Manipur was not a part of India.”
Gandhi’s visit to Manipur coincides with the launch of the Congress party’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,’ a campaign aimed at fostering national unity. The Congress leader addressed the crowd, expressing his commitment to resolving the longstanding issues causing unrest in Manipur.
During his speech, Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Modi for not personally visiting Manipur despite the region experiencing significant challenges. He asserted that even after lakhs of people faced losses due to violence, the Prime Minister did not make a visit to the troubled state.
The ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ is expected to traverse various parts of the country, with Rahul Gandhi using the platform to connect with the people and address their concerns. As the campaign unfolds, the focus remains on the Congress party’s vision for national unity and its promises to address the grievances of different regions, starting with the peace-building efforts in Manipur.
