Emraan Hashmi discusses the repercussions of his candid remarks on Koffee With Karan, acknowledging the potential for controversy in future appearances. The actor, reflecting on a notable episode from Koffee With Karan season 4 in 2014, where he and Mahesh Bhatt made headlines for their outspoken comments, particularly about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Mallika Sherawat, admits to making enemies due to the social media resurgence of those remarks.
In a recent Zoom interview, Emraan Hashmi shared the challenges of dealing with the aftermath of such comments, leading him to reconsider participating in chat shows altogether. When questioned about a potential change in his approach, he humorously asserted that he hasn’t lost his edge and anticipates causing more controversy if he were to return to Koffee With Karan. He quipped, “If I go on Koffee With Karan again, I’m gonna make a mess of things again. I think I’ll be worse off in the rapid-fire round than I was before.”
Emraan clarified that his previous remarks were not personal attacks but rather driven by the competitive nature of the show and the desire to win the coveted hamper. He explained, “Because it’s an opinion, and I don’t really have anything against these people. I just wanted to win the hamper. It just becomes a competitive thing, and you say these weird things.”
It’s worth noting that in 2014, Emraan Hashmi issued an apology for referring to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as ‘plastic’ on Koffee With Karan. He clarified that he was a fan of Aishwarya and attributed his comments to the format of the show, where making unusual statements was part of the game.
