BJP Playing Chess with Telugu StatesJun 26, 2020 05:56 AM
Every political party's dream is to win elections, rule the Government and retain the power. Whether they do any good to serve people or not has become secondary in this competitive space. The primary interest is to grab the power by any means.
BJP which has finally gaining entry into South of India through Karnataka and taming AIADMK now set it's focus on Telugu states. Winning 4 MP seats in Telangana has given fresh hopes after complete debacle in Assembly elections conudcted earlier. In Andhra Pradesh, though they didn't win any election they are making moves by making an alliance with Jana Sena Party.
In Telangana KCR tried to maintain cordial relations with the centre. In this background JP Nadda's sudden attack on TRS party saying that it failed to contain Covid-19 in the state came as a shock to TRS led Government. Eetela Rajender Health Minister made counter allegations but the damage has been done. Following day, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay participated in dharna infornt of directorate’s office in Koti as part of a state-wide agitation called by the BJP.
BJP is already projecting the friendly cooperation between TRS and MIM as appeasement politics but these allegations are not gaining any traction as KCR is seen as doing Yagnas and Yagas and developing Yadadri Temple.
In Andhra Pradesh
BJP State Presidnet Kanna Lakshmi Narayana has been vocal in criticising the Government whether it is in State election officer issue or polavaram issue. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju's clash with YSRCP is also not without blessing of Central BJP leadership. It seems that BJP is waiting for YSRCP or TDP to finish each other and it could come to occupy that vaccum. Unlike Telangana, there is no scope for the only other national party Congress to re-emerge and present itself as the main opposition. So as the only national party BJP could use the situation to their benefit no matter who wins in the state.
