Andhra Pradesh budget session will commence from tomorrow and it will be a short-affair. Going by the official sources, the assembly sessions will be conducted only for five days. Starting from this Tuesday, the session will go on until Saturday.

The session will commence with Governor Biswabusan Harichandan addressing the joint session of the Assembly and Council through video conference from Raj Bhavan.

The agenda of the session will be decided on the first day. However, it was made clear that the session would be exclusively dedicated to the approval of the state budget. In view of COVID-19, the Andhra Pradesh government has postponed the budget presentation in March 2020.

Finance Minister Bugganna Rajendranath will be presenting the budget in the next five days. Following this, there will be a discussion on the budgetary proposals.

As per the sources, the state government would be releasing Rs. 2.6 lakh crores budget for 2020-21. This would also include Rs. 70,000 crores raised from vote-on-account through the promulgation of an ordinance in the first three months of 2020.

The budget plan will be chalked out considering the revenue from each department. Considering the COVID-19 lockdown, it is likely that the revenue will be a deficit. However, this year’s budget will be a 20 percent increase over the last year's budget.
