Indian cricket fans rejoice! The BCCI and Cricket South Africa (CSA) have announced a four-match T20I tour of South Africa in November 2024. This series completes the postponed T20Is from India’s 2021 tour, which were rescheduled due to a surge in Covid-19 cases.
The matches will be played between November 8th and 15th across four iconic South African venues: Durban’s Kingsmead Stadium, St George’s Park in Gqeberha, Centurion’s SuperSport Park, and the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
Rematch After a Memorable Tour
This tour provides an opportunity for both teams to reignite the competitive spirit witnessed during India’s tour of South Africa in December 2023. That series saw a thrilling exchange across formats, with India winning the ODI series 2-1 and drawing both the T20I and Test series 1-1.
Financial Boost for Cricket South Africa
The return of the Indian team is a significant development for Cricket South Africa. Hosting India is a major financial boon for most cricket boards, and CSA is no exception. Broadcast revenue from a single T20 match against India is estimated to exceed R150 million (US$8.4 million), providing a much-needed financial boost following CSA’s reported loss of R119 million in the last financial year.
Excitement for Fans and Players Alike
Lawson Naidoo, CSA chairperson, expressed his gratitude to the BCCI for their continued support. “Any tour by the Indian cricket team is filled with amazing camaraderie and exciting cricket,” Naidoo said. “I know our fans will be eagerly awaiting this series which will showcase the exceptional talent from both teams.”
With the series set to be a display of exceptional cricketing talent, Indian and South African fans alike can gear up for an enthralling T20 spectacle this November
