Telangana celebrates 6th year of formation amid lockdown. The youngest state in India celebrates its 6th anniversary on Tuesday. There was no pomp due to the ongoing Novel Coronavirus. Several dignitaries were present including Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, Director General of Police Mahender Reddy.
The celebration was low-keyed and the same pattern was continued in 32 districts in TS. Public representatives and minister limited the celebration in district headquarters. All the norms for social distancing were followed and everyone wore masks.
The formation day was celebrated in Legislative Council & Assembly. Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Legislative Council G. Sukhender Reddy paid tribute to statues of B. R. Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi, and it followed by flag hoisting inside the Assembly.
Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrasekhar Rao paid tributes at Telangana Martyrs Memorial Gun Park near Assembly building; to the people who sacrificed their lives to achieve separate statehood.
Other Political Parties including Congress and BJP celebrated at their headquarters. State Congress chief Uttam Kumar Reddy hoisted the flag at Gandhi Bhavan and hailed Congress President Sonia Gandhi in the formation of separate State. He attacked Chief Minister KCR and called him autocratic. A ceremony was held at BJP party office and Bandi Sanjay hoisted a flag. His equally castigated the CM of Telangana State and spoke about his mismanagement. The reunion was a mixed bag of celebration and some politicians gaining brownie points by criticism the state government.
